THANG LOI HOTEL
I- INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, the demand of tourism and stay is more and more popular in the world. Apart from the famous tourist destination, the beautiful landscapes, the stay is one of the important things to get a perfect trip. So, more and more luxurious hotels are built to meet the demand of customers. They have become a very active business development in the world as well as in Viet Nam. Hanoi is the capital of Viet Nam, the center of the country. Therefore, business hotels in Ha Noi are developed. There are many luxury and convenient hotels and Thang Loi is a 4 star hotel very successful in business stay. We are students of faculty of tourism - hotel management. So researching on the process of operation of hotel is very necessary for our profession in the future. So we do Hotel or tour company report assignment after finding information about hotel.
This assignment is “Hotel or tour company report” with our topic is “Thang Loi hotel”. To do this assignment, we have to work in group of 6 members:

We are 2nd year students at class A3K16.
This assignment is a group exercise, so it requires each members has to do conceptually. We have gone to Thang Loi hotel to take photographs with six members and ask for brochures and information. Next, we have to write report to hand in and do presentation of assignment in front of our class.
“Hotel or tour company report” assignment has two main duties.
The first duty is report writing. It has four main parts: Introduction (introduce the assignment generally), Body (information of Thang Loi hotel), Conclusion and Recommendation.
The second duty is presentation. All members in group will have to speaking about own information which were divided.
Doing “Hotel or tour company report” assignment is very interesting and useful. It helps us have knowledge about hotel or tour company; enhance our report writing skill, speaking skill. Moreover, we will improve our team working spirit- a very important skill for our future job.
All members in our group tried best to do “Hotel or tour company report” assignment.

Thang Loi Hotel in Hanoi is strategically located Hotels in Hanoi in Vietnam. Thang Loi Hotel is one of the suitable Hotels in Vietnam and has a contemporary lodging. The hotel has a convenient location and is thus conveniently accessible for all kind of travelers.
The Location of Thang Loi Hotel in Hanoi is near West Lake the most scenic and quiet area. Its innate exquisiteness is just is one of many things to discover while you stay in Vietnam. 1.2. History and Development:Thang Loi Hotel is strength of friendship between the two countries firmly Vietnam and Cuba. It was officially started construction since late 1973 and inaugurated the right to revolution anniversary of Mon-ca-da of Cuba (July 26, 1953 - July 26, 1975), the process of business Thang Loi hotel is divided into three main periods:
- Period 1975-1987: Thang Loi Hotel is independent economic unit, directly under the General Department of Tourism, and then transferred to the police, operating under the subsidy mechanism. -Period 1988-10/1995: Thang Loi Hotel is into a company's accounting office report, a legal status is incomplete, and conducts business according to market mechanism, under the direction of all presence of superiors.
-On October 21, 1995: Decision of the General 304/QD travel company founded Thang Loi Hotel, directly under Viet Nam admistration tourism. Since then, Thang Loi hotel became an accounting unit of economic independence and full legal status.
1.3. Description
From 25 years ago Thing Loi Hotel was very popular with foreign tourists to Hanoi. Many leaders of the country and celebrities around the world staying here such as Prime Minister of Germany Helmut Kohl during his visit to Vietnam in 1995, Prime Minister Cameron (Luc Ayang ),…

Nowadays, Thang Loi hotel has been continuing to exploit 178 standard rooms. There are 8 VIP rooms to receipt VIP customers. With a good place : next to West lake, Thang Loi hotel is one of the hotels in hanoi ,there are 133 rooms next to West lake and some rooms next to garden with beautiful sigh, fresh air, clean environment.

Area of each room: the largest VIP room has 1 living room, 1 bedroom. The suit president room and suit deluxe room are less bigger than VIP room. The suit president room has 1 double bed, the suit deluxe room has 2 single beds.
Area of each room:
- Suit presidential room :60m2 - Suit deluxe room : 57m2
- Premium room : 32,45m2.
-Standard room : 28,5m2.
-Superior room : 28,5m2
- Bungalow : 24 m2.
Price of room in Thang Loi hotel is quite high from 35$ to 200$. Therefore, sit serves customers with high living standard. Thang Loi hotel is 4 stars hotel, so price of services is suitable with rank and size of hotel. Specially, in domestic economic and international economic are developing,…income of people increase, so demand of people increase, too . Besides, Viet Nam is taking part in international economic; therefore, our country can attract a lot of tourists in many countries in the world. These are customers with high income, so, service of Thang Loi hotel maintly satisfy these customers.

3. Facilities and services offered
3.1. Reception:
The reception is 400m2 including the lobby, reception and Night Bar. The facilities system include: decorative, center system with many other facilities such as: fax machine, printer, furniture; many paintings hang like unique, modern lifestyle; five rattan furniture’s for customers relaxing the meantime or guest, read newspapers...When sitting in the hall, customers can admire the artificial waterfall or enjoy your beverage nearby Night Bar
3.2. Equipments of rooms
Today, Thang Loi hotel continue exploiting 178 rooms which are the international standard, including 8 special rooms for VIP customers.There are many modern equipments in the room and staffs serving room work 24/24h that make customers always feel satisfied and comfortable such as :Air – conditioner, Telephone. Tea and coffee, Hair dryer, Refrigerator, Fire alarm, Closet chest, Private bath room with bath- tub or shower, Cable television,Television, Wireless internet provided in all room…
Beside, there are four bungalows along the way to hotel.
3.3. The sevices:
3.3.1. Building of Thing Lois hotel mainly catering, workshop, conference and weeding party.There are 6 rooms which are the multi-purpose:
Thang Loi I: it has 350m2 and can serve 400 customers are party throne.
Thang Loi II and II: they have the same area are 100m2 and can serve 120 customers are party throne.
Tay Ho I and Tay Ho II: they have same area are 100m2 and can serve 120customers are party throne. They are linking with the hall and the artificial stream
Suoi Truc: it has an area of over 30m2 and suitable for organizing family meals.
The rooms are carpet, air-conditioner second way of Japan, standard furniture and equipment for conference.
Entire area can organize a party for 800 to 900 seated guests and buffet for 1000 to 1200 guests.
3.3.2 There are two bars in Thang Loi hotel: Night Bar is set near the hotel’s hall and Bar Lotus is set near swimming pool. They have modern fortunate, have icehouse to put drink, and kind of drink such as: wine, cocktail, mock tail…..
3.3.3. - Organizing and choosing staff ,leaders
- Evaluating the activities of the hotel and the work of staff

6. Evaluate the strength and limitations of Thing Loi hotel and give suggestions for improving its limitation.
Nowadays, Thang Loi hotel is more and more famous and a favorite choice of customers when coming to Hanoi. The hotel has some strength and advantages. Besides, there are still some limitations need repairing and ways to solve.
6.1. Strength of Thang Loi hotel.
Thang Loi hotel has the powers of four - stars hotel and specific strength to attract customers.
Firstly, this hotel has a wonderful location, is located in a beautiful semi-island on West Lake, among of tourism – service – culture – sport center in Ha Noi capital (next to Nghi Tam and Nhat Tan flower villages, Kim Lien pagoda …). That is a convenient place for accommodation of customers. This place also makes hotel have a beautiful, quiet, cool and commodious sight. Today, the number of hotels has been increasing fast in Ha Noi but there is rarely hotel that has sight and modern, natural architect like Thang Loi hotel. Rooms, restaurants, service places next to West Lake that makes customers feel comfortable as they can mix with nature, not to live in crowded and noisy city. Moreover, this hotel has many kinds of room for customers such as suit presidental room, suit deluxe room, primium room, superior room, standard room with suitable price (from 35$ to 200$ ). It also has various services such as: bar, swimming pool, tennis, beauty salon – sauna – massage, karaoke, dancing…. The quality of equipments reaches the four -star standards. An outstanding point is wedding party organization. That is popular in Thang Loi hotel and makes the high turnover. Other services, such as: letting rent offices, meeting rooms and mice organization, are quite success in business activities. Thirdly, Thang Loi hotel was built a long time ago and started opening in 1975. It is famous for experience in hotel business activities and makes prestige to people. Besides, Thang Loi is state – owned hotel so this hotel is always supported and cared by administrator. Lastly, staffs are young, good looking, brisk, enthusiasm and friendly. Customers always feel satisfied with staff’s attitude because they care for customers with all heart.
In short, the above powers of four - star hotel and specific strength help Thang Loi hotel gain many successes. Today, Thang Loi hotel still continue developing those strengths with aim to become five – star hotel.
6.2. Limitations of Thang Loi hotel.
The advantages and strength of Thang Loi hotel are available but hotel can not avoid weak and limitation points. Firstly, about limitation of location, Thang Loi hotel’s position is near with many famous five – star hotels such as Sheraton, Continental, Hilton, HaNoi Opera, Sofitel Metro pole, Melia hotel….That makes competition among hotels. Thang Loi
is four - star hotel so it is difficult to compete with those five hotels. Besides, some kinds of equipment are old such as air conditioners, linen cupboards, bricks….there are lack of services for entertainment’s and heath’s demand. Examples: table tennis, billiard, game, gym... Sale section is special but there are only standard rooms. It does not satisfy with various customers’ demand. Two bars are rather simple, limitations. Almost beverages are only beer, wine, soft drink, and cafe. There are not a lot of traditional and special foods. Ceiling is not high, that makes hotel’s area be smaller than real area. Thirdly, the experience and skills of staff are not high enough. There are some members of staff still ungraduating from university. Finally, the management still has a number of issues relevant to the current economic.These are limitations Thang Loi hotel has to face and find the ways to solve fast. If Thang Loi hotel had solution for limitations, it woud operate better than now.
6.3. Some suggestions for improving Thang Loi hotel’s limitations:
Here are some suggestions to solve the limitations of Thang Loi hotel . hotels need repair, improve or buy new equipment and old.
About facilities, Thang Loi hotel need to upgrade, add other amenities and raise the ceiling.
Adding unique dishes and traditional dishes on the menu in the restaurant of the hotel, drinks in bar such as cocktails, moctail, fruit...
Addition of amusement, entertainment and services in the courtyard of the hotel customers to expand markets and extend their stay.
Improve the quality of staff by recruiting new employees and qualified professional, focused retraining staff to improve their professional knowledge, enhance the manament staff.
Change management mechanism backward and learn new ways of management and progress to serve the hotel's operations more efficient.
Increased advertising in newspaper, televison, leaflets, internet… to promote the hotel’s image and attract the attention of customers.
IV. CONCLUSION.
This is very important assignment for us to complete the English course 3B. We tried hard to complete it effectively. In the process of doing it, we have many advantages to complete faster and better but it still comes with difficulties.
About the advantages:
Firstly, we have the help teachers about how to do assignment, presentation layout, how to come into the hotel for information, etc…. So we know much more and clearlier about Hotel or tourism company report assignment. Secondly, we have a staff of Thang Loi Hotel caring help and guidance to collect information when we come into hotel. Finally, all group members are hardworking and help together to complete this assignment.
About the difficulties:
Firstly, assignment is an exercise group. Members in the group should be set to go to hotels or do exercise. Meanwhile, members in the group do not live near together so it is difficult to gather. In the process of doing assignment, some members also have disagreements. Besides, there is a few of documents and images, which causes difficulties in finding information for this assignment. Finally, some assignments have done but this is the first to go hotel and do the presentation to the class, so we are not experienced and not understood in many parts.
The advantages helped us complete all assignment. At same time, we have together tried to overcome all difficulties to make a better assignment. Hotel or tour company report assignment is very useful for us. It directs us towards tourism- oriented activities, to sharpen us communicative skills and enhance our report writing skill. Especially, we can train and enhance speaking skills when doing presentation.
V: RECOMMENDATION.
To do assignment better we discuss and offer a few ideas to overcome difficulties and other recommendations.
Firstly, schools need to gather additional reference books and documents to the hotel. Secondly, while doing assignment should be division of work clear and appropriate for each member to specifically promote their abilities. Members should also have the same idea and construct for assignment. Moreover, we should ask teacher about some things that we do not understand and some skills to do written report and oral presentation. Teachers also have to guide students more about how to find information, how to choose news effectively.
Above suggestions are very useful to do hotel or tour company report assignment. If we allow these suggestions, we will do it better and more effectively.
