Task 1: Fill in the gaps
- Have Students work individually to fill in each blank one word and phrase from the dialogue.
- Call on some Students to read aloud their completed sentences in front of class.

UNIT 9: NATURAL DISASTERS
LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED+ LISTEN AND READ
I.OBJECTTIVES.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
-Get to know and use new words about weather.
-Understand the information in a weather forecast.
II. TEACHING AIDS
-Textbook, whiteboard markers, cassette..
-Posters, pictures about weather.

WARM UP
GUESSING NAME
-Provide three clues about the word “weather forecast”
-Ask students to guess the word.
1. We know whether it is going to rain or to be sunny if we watch this program.
2. It is usually broadcasted on TV after the news.
3. It starts with letter W
- Ask students to give the answer.
-Lead to the new lesson:
+ Do you usually watch the weather forecast?
+ Do you think weather forecasts are truthful?
-Listen to the teacher.
-Guess the word
-Give the answer.
+Answer: weather forecasts
-Answer the question.
PRESENTATION
*Vocabulary :
-Introduce the contents of the lesson and some words:
- Snowstorm (n): heavy fall of snow especially with wind:
- Earthquake (n):
- Volcano (n):
- Typhoon (n): violent storm especially in East Asian seas:
-Ask students to listen and repeat then guess its meanings.
-Ask students to copy down.
*Checking new words:
- Ask Students to match the picture to the correct words and then compare their answer with a partners.

-Call some students to give their answer.
-Check and give the correct answer.
-Ask Students to look at the picture and answer the question: In which program do we see these pictures ?
=> Setting the scene: “Thuy is talking to her grandmother while they are watching a weather forecast on TV”. Now look at the book and listen to the tape.
- Listen carefully
-Listen and repeat then guess its meanings.
-Copy down.
-Match.
-Give their answer.

-Turn on the tape (2 or 3 times) if necessary.
- Ask Students to practice the dialogue in group of three.

- Work in groups of three.

- Ask Students to work in group of 3 or 4 and discuss to make a weather forecast for the following day in Vietnam
- Call on some representatives from groups to read forecast aloud in front of class.
