Look at the two examples again and identify the function of each relative pronoun in each sentence Subject of the relative clause Object of the relative clause 2. The cartoon is ‘” TOM AND JERRY”, which I like very much 2. “ TOM AND JERRY” is the cartoon which / that I like very much. can’t be omitted can be omitted “ TOM AND JERRY” is the cartoon I like very much Note Relative pronouns “who, whom, which, that” can be omitted when they are objects in the sentences. But we can’t omit : * “who ,which, that” as a subject. * “whom , which” after a comas and a preposition. Ex: I like the diamond ring………. - I like the diamond ring Mary is wearing.
