Active:

1- The farmers grow rice.

2- They are building a new bridge now.

3- She has got many good marks since Monday.

4- We can speak English at the club.

Passive:

1- Rice is grown by the farmers

2- A new bridge is being built now

3- Many good marks have been got (gotten) by her since Monday.

4- English can be spoken at the club by us

Educational aim: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to: Get the general information about the conservation. Revise passive voice of the present tenses and modal verbs that Ss have been taught in the secondary school. 2. Skill : Distinguish the sounds /b/ and /p/; pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly. How to use the grammar: passive voice of the present tenses and modal verbs 3. Attitude: Active to broaden and percept the knowledge. II. Knowledge: Ss learn more about the passive voice of the present tenses and modal verbs II. Method and Teaching aids 1. Method: Communicative approach: teacher and students, students and students, students and teacher. Work in groups, work in individually, work in pairs. 2. Teaching aids: Poster, word cards, pictures, textbook (English 10), hand-outs IV. Procedure: 1. Organization: 10A16 ( ) Ask Ss to sing a song before learning new lesson. 2. Check old lesson: - T asks Ss to hand in the writing products that they have asked to do at home in the previous lesson. 3. New lesson: Content T’s and Ss’ activities I. New lesson: Lead in the new lesson: - Today, we will study two parts: pronunciation and grammar: + Part 1: Pronunciation: the sounds /b/ and /p/. + Part 2: passive voice of the present tenses and modal verbs. Unit 10: Conversation Period 64: Language focus 1. Pronunciation: Sounds (Consonants) /b/ and /p/ Isolated sounds: /b/ / p/ bin ben bear cab pub bobby pin pen pear cap pup poppy Sentences: 1- Pat buys Bill a big pad of paper. 2- A black bee is picking some pollen 4- Paul borrowed a book about puppies from the library. 2. Grammar: Revision: The passive voice (present tenses and modal verbs) * Examples: Active: The farmers grow rice. They are building a new bridge now. She has got many good marks since Monday. We can speak English at the club. Passive: Rice is grown by the farmers A new bridge is being built now Many good marks have been got (gotten) by her since Monday. English can be spoken at the club by us * Form: The present simple tense: Active S + Vs/es/Vo + O Passive S + am/is/are + PII + by O The present continuous tense: Active S + am/is/are + Ving + O Passive S+ am/is/are + being + PII + by O The present perfect tense: Active S + have/ has + PII + O Passive S+ have/ has+ been + PII + by O Modal verbs: Active S + Modal V + Vo + O Passive S + Modal verbs + PII + by O * PRACTICE: Activity 1: Complete the sentences with the present passive voice. Nobody believes his story Someone is following her Do you understand this lesson? What language do they speak in Japan? Answers: New students are always welcomed by the teachers. The problem is being studied carefully by the scienctists. The robbers have just been arrested by the police. This room can be used after 5 pm That old building must be repaired Is English taught in your school? His story is not believed She is being followed Is this lesson understood by you? What language is spoken in Japan? III. Consolidation: - Elicit the pronunciation of two sounds (consonants) /b/ and /p/ - Revise the passive voice (present tenses and modal verbs) * Form: The present simple tense: Active S + Vs/es/Vo + O Passive S + am/is/are + PII + by O The present continuous tense: Active S + am/is/are + Ving + O Passive S+ am/is/are + being + PII + by O The present perfect tense: Active S + have/ has + PII + O Passive S+ have/ has+ been + PII + by O Modal verbs: Active S + Modal V + Vo + O Passive S + Modal verbs + PII + by O IV. Homework: Learn by heart the structures. Do exercise 1, 2 and 3 (Exercise on their textbook- English 10- page 110- 111) on their notebook. Prepare: Unit 11: National parks Period 65: Reading - T divides the class into two big groups. - Ss listen to the T. - T explains the way to play the game: I have some words on the board. I will call you one by one to slap the board. I will play the audio. When you hear the word, you have to slap the suitale words to come back home and point another member to continue the game. Unless you slap the word, you will continue playing the game” - T leads in the new lesson. - Ss open their books and notebooks, listen to the T. - Ss take notes. - T shows small poster with two sounds. - Ss look at the poster. - T uses the sound fashcards and the body language to introduce the sounds and how to make the sounds correctly. - Ss listen to the T. - T asks Ss to listen and repeat the words on the poster and pay attention to the sounds. - T asks Ss to use the techniques to check the pronunciation of the two consonants by using Ss’ fingers and a piece of paper. - Ss repeat after the T. - T calls some Ss to repeat the words. - Ss read aloud the words. - T gives feedback, comments if necessary. - Ss listen to the T. - T asks Ss to look at the sentences on page 110 - Ss look at the sentences. - T asks Ss to listen and repeat the sentence after the T in class, in groups (T chooses three sentences to practice in class, three of them will be practiced at home by the students). - Ss work in class, work individually. - T calls some Ss to read aloud the sentences as reading the sentences of tongue twister (slowly>>> rapidly) - T gives the feedback and comments. - Ss listen to the T. - T introduces three examples of active voice and asks three students to go to the board and change them into passive voice. - Ss listen to the T and take notes. - Ss go to the board to change the sentences into passive voice. - T corrects the Ss’ answers, gives comments and feedbacks - By analysing three sentences, the teacher gets students to give the form passive voice. - Ss listen to the T and take notes. - T asks Ss to do the exercise in Ss’ handouts - T goes around to provide help - T asks Ss to compare their answers with another student - T asks some Ss to give their answers and other Ss to give comments. - T gives correct answers - T asks Ss to do the exercise in the handouts in pairs. - T asks them to compare answers with another pair. - T introduces anad explains the activity “random sentences” “I will call the first student to pick a paper randomly and she/he will answer the question that she/he picks up. After answering, she/ he will call any student to pick up the paper for the next person” - T asks Ss to do the activity “random sentences”. - Ss do the activity. - T feedbacks and gives correct answers after Ss’ answer key. - T asks Ss to remind the new knowledge that they have just studied. - T instructs homework for the Ss. - Ss listen to the T’s instructions and take notes.
