Educational aim: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to: Get the general information about “some national parks all over the world ” and “the features and detailed information about Cuc Phuong national park” 2. Skill : Listening skills: listening for the gist and for specific, detailed information. Speaking skills: make the discussions and presentations about Cuc Phuong national parks. 3. Attitude: Active to broaden and percept the knowledge. II. Knowledge: Ss learn strategies and improve Ss’ skills of listening comprehension through doing some exercises and tasks. Ss know more about the special and normal features of Cuc Phuong national park in Vietnam. Ss know how to give opinions and make presentation about some national parks in Vietnam in the post – listening part. II. Method and Teaching aids 1. Method: Communicative approach: teacher and students, students and students, students and teacher. Work in groups, work individually, work in pairs. 2. Teaching aids: Poster, word cards, pictures, textbook (English 10), hand-outs IV. Procedure: 1. Organization: - 10A16 ( ) Ask Ss to sing a song before learning new lesson. 2. New lesson: In Vietnam, there are loads of national parks. Cuc Phuong is one of the greatest national parks which has some special features. Rules: I have a big map with the names of provinces in Vietnam. I will give each group some cards with the names of some national parks in Vietnam. You will discuss with your group to find out the suitable name. You will pont one student to go to the board and stick the card with the correct name. - T asks Ss to work in groups to do the activity - Ss work in groups. - T gives feedback and comments. - Ss listen to the T. - T leads in the new lesson by using the map of matching activity and a picture of Cuc Phuong national park. - Ss listen to the T and take notes. - T introduces and gives some vocabularies by using the techniques and flashcards for teaching vocabulary. - Ss listen to the T and copy the new words on their notebooks. - T asks Ss to repeat the new words in several times after the T. - Ss repeat the new words. - T calls some Ss to repeat the words. - Ss repeat the words. - T introduces task 1 ask Ss to read the requirements of the task. - Ss listen to the T. - T explains how to do the task - Ss listen to the T. - Before Ss listen and do the task, T instructs them to use some strategies: - T asks Ss to read the sentences and pay attention to the key words in the questions. + First, read the sentences carefully. As they do this: - underline keywords - try to work out what they are going to hear - anticipate the grammatical form as well as vocabulary + Fill in each blank as they listen. The information will be given in the same order as the sentences although it may be expressed differently. + Make sure your sentences are grammatically correct. - T asks Ss to listen to the tape once or twice. - Ss work individually. - T asks Ss to exchange their answers with their partners. - Ss work in pairs. - T calls some Ss to give their answers by choosing radomly. Playing game: Lucky endangered specices: - T divides the class into 2 groups. - T gives the rules of the game “I have eight animals, three of them are lucky animals. If you choose the lucky one, you will get one point and continue choosing another one. If you choose unlucky one, you will give your answer of the statement in task 2 and you will get one pint for each correct answer. And finally, which group has more point will be the winner” - T asks Ss to play lucky number game. - T gives the key after getting the answer from Ss by checking the tape. - T congratulates the winner with Ss. - T shows a poster of summarizing the information/ features of Cuc Phuong National Park. - Ss look at the poster. - T explains the poster - Ss listen to the T. - T asks Ss to read the text about some National Parks in groups of three tables. It is located 160 km south west of Hanoi spanning Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh andThanh Hoa provinces. The 200 square kilometer park attracts tourists and scientists alike. In 2002, nearly 100,000 visitors made their way to Cuc Phuong. Many come to see the work being done to protect endangered species. According to scientists, there are about 2,000 different species of flora and 450 species of fauna. Cuc Phuong National Park has many caves. Quen Voi, also part of the park, is where Nguyen Hue's army was stationed before itmade its surprise attack on Thang Long and defeated the Quing envaders in the spring of 1789. Cuc Phuong is also home to the Muong ethnic minority, who live mainly on bee keeping and farming. 02: Bach Ma National Park Bach Ma National Park is located in central Vietnam in the province of Thua Thien Hue, around 700 km south of the country's capital Hanoi and 1000 km north of Ho Chi Minh City. The national park covers an area of about 22,000 ha in the districts of Phu Loc and Nam Dong. With steep mountains and dense forests this area is home to a wide variety of animals and plants. At the base of the mountains there is tropical monsoon forest, above 900 m sub-tropical forest. There are species from both northern and southern Vietnam, and Bach Ma is recognized as one of the areas of Indochina with high biodiversity. Bach Ma mountain peak is the highest point in the park at 1450 m above sea level and is only 18 km away from the coast. 03: Bai Tu Long National Park This National Park is located to the north of wellknown Ha Long Bay and 20 km from the centre of Van Don district. The park covers 15,783 ha and is now home to 672 species of terrestrial plants and 178 aquatic floral species, of which 11 species have been listed in Vietnam's Red Book of endangered species. 04: Ba Vi National Park This National Park, 48 kms west of Hanoi, covers an area of 7,377 ha on a range of high mountains. The park is famous for its rich and diverse flora and fauna comprising tropical and subtropical species. Climbing up to the top of the mountains, you will find a temple dedicated to the Tan Vien God and can take an enthralling bird's-eye view of the surroundings. 05: Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park This National Park is located in central Vietnam, about 500km south of Hanoi. It houses 140 families, 427 branches, and 751 species of highrated plants, of which 36 species are endangered and listed in the Viet Nam Red Book. The forest is also home to 32 sets, 98 families, 256 races and 381 species of four land backboned animals. Sixtysix animal species are listed in the Viet Nam Red Book and 23 other species in the World Red Book.
