Warm-up :(6 minutes)

- Give a picture and ask students a questions: “What is it?”

- Play game “LOOKING AND GUESSING?”

+ Give students a game and ask them guess the meanings of words.

• T divides sts into two big groups.

• Each group has a st go to the board, choose a word, then using body language to describe the meaning in 15s

• Members in group have 5s to guessing the word

• 1 point for each right answer

• If the group answers wrong, the other will have chance to answer.

Educational aim: Students should appreciate the modern computers that help make our life comfortable and should know how to use them properly and economically 2. Knowledge: - General knowledge: Students learn about how present and future computers and equipment may change our life styles - Language: Sentences and expressions for describing computers - New words: Words related to modern computers and equipment 3. Skill : Reading for gist and for specific information II. METHOD: Intergrated mainly communicative III. TEACHING AIDS: Student’s book, real objects and pictures showing modern computers and the illustrations of different parts of a computer IV. Pre-reading: (8 minutes) 1. Matching ( 2 minutes) - Ask students to look at the illustrations of different parts of a computer system and match each numbered item with one of the words or phrases in the box - Let them work in pairs - Go round, check and help students 2. Vocabulary ( 6 minutes) - Pre-teach some new words and phrases + miraculous (adj) /mi'rækjuləs/ + calculating machine (n.p) /'kælkjuleitiηmə'∫i:n/ + calculation (n) /,kælkju'lei∫nz/ + magical (adj) /ˈmædʒɪkl/ + places of scenic beauty (n.p) /ˈsiːnɪk ˈbjuːti/ + interact (v) /ˌɪntərˈækt/ + memos (n) /'memouz/ + communicator (n) /kəˈmjuːnɪkeɪtər/ * Checking vocabulary: - Ask 2 pair of sts guess the meanings in Vietnamese or English of these words . While-reading: * Task 1: Matching (2 minutes) - Ask students to match the word or phrase in A with its definition in B - Let students work in pair - Walk round and help students if they can’t do * Task 2: True or False (8 minutes) - Ask students to read the passage quickly - Decide the statement are T or F - Let them work in groups in table - Check the answers * Task 3: Chose the best title (2 minutes) - Ask students chose the best title for the passage - Let them work in groups in table - Walk round and help students if necessary Post- reading: (15 minutes) - Ask students to close their books then discuss other uses of the computer in our daily life - Let them work in pairs - Walk round and help students if they can’t do - Call some pair to practise speaking in front of the class - Correct the sts’ mistake. Homework: (2 minutes) - Ask students to learn more about the uses of computers. - Ask students to prepare B-Speaking at home - Look at the picture and answer the questions: “The computer” - Play game in group 1. keyboard 2.
