I. Aims & Objectives
1. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to:
- Use the information they have read to discuss the related topic
- Know some vocabularies about hobbies
- Develop such reading micro-skills as scanning for specific ideas and guessing meaning in context
-Language: vocabulary concerning the hobbies such as keep fish, accomplished, guitarist, accompany, avid, discarded, indulge in, keep sb occupied,
-Grammar: revise the present simple.

- T prepares a game: 8 pictures related to the 8 hobbies

- T divides sts into 4 teams.
- T explains the game: each team choose a number having a picture, in 3 seconds, giving the answer the name of hobbies. If the host team right, can get 2 points. If wrong, the other teams can answer and get 1 point. There is a lucky number containing 3 points.
- T keeps control over the game, checks the points and claims the winner.
- Sts listen to the instruction.
- Sts play the game.

Introduction
- T introduces the new lesson (lead in)
- T: Ask Sts to answer the questions:
1. When do people do these kinds of activities?
2. What do you call things you do in your free time?
3. Which activity do you like to do in our free time? Why?
- Sts: Listen and answer the question

1. People often do these activities when they have free time.
2. They called hobbies.

- T provides some new words used in the lesson.
Accomplished /əˈkʌmplɪʃt/ (adj) tài hoa, cừ khôi
Explain: It is synonymous with well- trained, skilled, or talented.
Ex: My aunt, who is an accomplished piano, taught me how to play.
Accomplish /əˈkʌm.plɪʃ/ to finish something successfully
Accomplishment /əˈkʌmplɪʃmənt/ (n) sự tài hoa
Accompany /əˈkʌmpəni/ (v) đệm đàn, đệm nhạc
Using picture and ask, “What is he doing?”
Ex: The singer was accompanied on the guitar by her sister.
Avid /ˈævɪd/ (v) say mê, khao khát
Ex: He is an avid stamp collector.
Discarded /dɪˈskɑːdid/ (adj) loại bỏ
Ex: Nam collects stamps from discarded envelops.
Indulge in /ɪnˈdʌldʒɪn/ (phr.v) say mê
Ex: He just indulge in keeping fish for a while.
Keep sb occupied /kiːp sb ˈɒkjupaɪd/ (phr.v) làm ai đó bận rộn
Ex: She keeps herself occupied with reading books.
For each word:
- T pronounces the new word.
- T says the word several times, and asks sts to repeat in chorus.
- T writes the word on BB, and elicits the meaning.
- T lets sts copy down.
- T asks sts to repeat the new words in chorus & individually.
Checking sts’ understanding:

® It is keeping fish. (line 10)
Where does the writer collect the stamps?
® He collects them from discarded envelops.
Which does the writer get more of, local stamps or foreign stamps?
® Local stamps (line 17)

Task 3: Memory Game
T shows 8 pictures of hobbies, teams have 30s to remember these hobbies. Then, the members of each team go to the BB and write as much as hobbies as possible.
Then sts practise talking about their hobbies
