UNIT 13: FILMS AND CINEMA Lesson 3: Listening Name of teacher: Nguyen Thi Quynh Nam Date and time: 15h30 - Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - develop listening micro-skills such as intensive listening for specific information, taking notes while listening and summarize main points of a conversation - expand the vocabulary about the activities - use the vocabulary they have learnt to ask and say about their plan II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS: Vocabulary related to activities. III. TEACHING AIDS: - Projector and screen; - Blackboard and chalk. IV. PROCEDURE: Time Stage Steps/Activities Work arrangement Teacher activities Learner activities 5’ Warm-up - Play the game “What is this film?” + Divide the class into two groups + Play some OST from some famous films + Let students guess the films by raising their hands and say Bingo then the answers + The team with more points will be the winner - Play the game + Stay in groups + Listen to the OST + Guess the films as fast as possible Group work Time Stage Steps/Activities Work arrangement Teacher activities Learner activities 7’ Before you listen - Check the vocabulary in the activity - Ask students to do the activity individually - Let students compare their answers with their partner - Introduce the vocabulary - Do the Listen-and-repeat activity - Call students randomly to read the vocabulary - Give feedback - Review vocabulary - Do the activity individually - Compare answers with the partners - Listen to the teacher - Listen and repeat after the teacher - Do as required Individual work 21’ While you listen * Task 1: - Introduce task 1 - Let students listen twice to answer the question of task 1 - Ask some students for their answers - Listen again to check the answer and find clues. *Task 2: - Change the activity in task 2 to: Fill in the blanks - Let students read through the task - Play the tape for the students to listen - If students haven’t taken the answers, play the tape once again - Let students compare their answers with their partner - Listen to the teacher - Listen and do the task - Do as required - Listen again to find the clues.
