WEEK 1 Date of preparing: 03/ 09/ 2016 Date of teaching: /09/2016 Period 1 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 1: (1, 2, 3) I. Objectives After the lesson , Ss will be able to: Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction. Greet other and introduce themselves, using Hello/Hi. I’m + ( name). II. Language focus * Vocabulary: Hello, Hi, I, am, * Sentences pattern: Hello, I’m Mai. Hi, Mai. I’m Nam III. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette IV. Procedure: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm up. - Greetings. Say Hello (encourage Ps to answer with Hello). - Repeat the procedure several times. - Introduce yourself to the class by pointing to yourself and say: I’m Miss Tham. - Introduce new lesson. 2. New lesson 2.1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss look at the picture and listen to the dialogue in their books. - Tell them that they are going to practice introducing themselves and responding to the introduction ( Vietnamese). - Point to the P1 and Ask Ps look at the text in speech bubbles. - Play the recording for Ps listen - Ask them repeat a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Play the recording through. - Practice with ps. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask Ps practice in pairs. - Go round and check Ps can repeat and understand the dialogue. 2.2. Point and say. - Ask Ps look at the pictures: Miss Hien: Hello, I’m________. Nam: Hello, ________. I’m __________. - Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying Hello/ Hi. I’m + name. And responding to the greeting. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaps. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have Ps repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask Ps work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check Ps’ mistake when necessary. 2.3. Let’s talk. - Tell Ps that they are going to practise more with their friends. - Point to each character eliciting the name. - Ask Ps to guess what the children say. - Fill the gaps and write the sentences on the board. - Get Ps to repeat the sentences a few times. - Get Ps work in pair of three to interact. - Call a few pairs practise in front of the class. - Check Ps’pronounciation. 3. Reinforcement -T repeats the sentence patters. 4. Home- link. - Tell Ps to say Hello to their teachers or adults and Hi to their peers. Greeting: Hello Listen. - Look, listen. -Listen carefully. - Look at the pic 1 in their book and look at the text. - Listen carefully to repeat a few times. - Practice. -Work in groups. Nice to meet you. - Look, and listen. - Listen to practise. - Look at the pic and listen carefully. - Listen and repeat a few times. - Listen. - Work in pairs. - Some pairs practice in front of the class. Other listen and check. - Listen. - Listen and do the task. - Repeat a few times. - Work in pairs of three. - Some pair practice in front of the class, other listen and check. -Ps listen and remember. - Listen and do at home. - Prepare next lesson. Period 2 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 1:(4,5,6) I. Objectives After the lesson , Ps will be able to: Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction. Greet other and introduce themselves, using Hello/Hi. I’m + ( name). II. Language focus * Vocab : Hello, Hi, I, am, * Structure : Hello, I’m Mai. Hi, Mai. I’m Nam III. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette IV. Procedure: Teachers activities Student’s activities 1. Warm up. - Revising Hello/Hi and I’m + ( name) 2. New lesson 2.1. Listen and tick. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures: What are they doing? - Tell ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes under the pictures. - Draw their attention to the pictures. - Elicit the name of the characters. Have ps repeat them once or twice. - Play the recording through for Ss to listen. - Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick the correct answers. - Ask Ss to exchange their answers with their partners before reporting them to the class. - Correct, remark. - Play the recording again to Ss repeat follow Audio script: Nam: Hello, I’m Nam. Quan: Hello, Nam. I’m Quan. Nice to meet you. Miss Hien: Hello, I’m Miss Hien. Class: Hello, Miss Hien. Nice to meet you. 2.2. Let’s write: - Ask Ps to look at the pictures. - Tell Ps what they are going to fill the gaps with I’m and Hello. - Ask Ps to read individually silently and complete the dialogues. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Elicit the words filling the gaps. Remind Ps to write the initial letter of the word at the beginning of each sentences in capital letters. - Allow Ps time to do the task. Go around to offer help if necessary. - Ask Ps to read their answers aloud to the class. - Correct, remark and give keys. 1. Hello, I’m. 2. I’m, Hello. - Have the whole class read each line of the dialogues chorally to reinforce their pronunciation. 2.3. Let’s sing. - Ask Ps to open their Student’s book on page 7. Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the sing on page 7 on the board. Tell them that they are going to sing the Hello song. - Play the recording all the way through for Ps to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Play the recording once more for Ps to repeat the whole song. - Call on some Ps to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms. 3.Reinforcement - Sing the song again. 4. Home-link. - Have Ps practise singing the song on page 7 at home. - Work in pairs or individuals to act out the greetings and responses in front of the class. - Look at the pictures and answer. They are greeting. - Listen to the recording the first time. -Listen again and tick. - Give the answers. - Others correct, remark. - Ps repeat the recording. V. Remark. Period 3 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 2:(1,2,3) I. Objectives -After the lesson, Ps will be able to: - Greet and respond to greetings, using How are you? And I’m fine, thanks. And you? - Say goodbye using Goodbye/Bye. II. Language focus * Vocabulary : fine, thanks, thank you, bye, goodbye. * Structure : How are you? I’m fine, thanks. And you? III. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette IV. Procedure: Teachers activities Students activities Warm up. - Get the class sing the Hello song again. 2. New lesson 2.1. Look, listen and repeat. - Introduce picture and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: + Who are they in the picture? + Where are they? - Tell the that they are going to practise saying and responding to Hello/ Hi + (name) and How are you?. - Check understanding. - Procedure the first picture and explain what they say. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - T plays the recording through for Ss to listen to the dialogue. - T plays the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - T divides the class into two groups: one group to repeat Nam’s and the Mai’s part. - Call on Ss to practise in front of the class. - Correct, remark. 2.2. Point and say - Ask Ps look at the pictures: - Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying : How are you? And I’m fine, thanks. And you? - Draw Ps’ attention to the pictures. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have Ps repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask Ps work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check Ps’ mistake when necessary. 2.3. Let’s talk. - Look at the picture and introdure. - Tell them thatthey are going practise more with their friends, using their own names. - In pairs students introduce their name the same in the book. - Have some Ss make a dialogue with their true names. - Call Ss work in pairs. - Do as example if the Ss don’t understand. - Look at the pic and then work in pairs with the name of pic before class. - Teacher give the correct answer. 3. Reinforcement - Ask Ps practise greeting using Hello/ Hi, . How are you? I’m fine, thank you. 4. Home-link. - Ask Ps practise greeting using Hello/ Hi, . How are you? I’m fine, thank you at home. - Sing a song. - Look, listen and answer the questions. - Listen. - Listen to the recording. - Listen and repeat. - Work in groups. - Practice in front of class. -Look and listen. - Listen to practise. - Look at the pic and listen carefully. -Listen and repeat a few times. - Work in pairs. - Some pairs practice in front of the class. Other listen and check. - Look at the picture. - Listen. - Practice in pairs. - Work in pairs and groups to make the dialogues with their names. - Practice. - The Pic: two Ss introducing and play roles. - Look, listen, repeat then take note. - Listen and read. - Look, listen and repeat. -Listen and practise at home. V. Remark. Period 4 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 2: (4,5,6) I. Objectives After the lesson, Ps will be able to: Greet and respond to greetings, using How are you? And I’m fine, thanks. And you? Say goodbye using Goodbye/Bye. II. Language focus * Vocabulary : fine, thanks, thank you, bye, goodbye. * Structure : How are you? I’m fine, thanks. And you? Bye/ Goodbye, Nam III. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette IV. Procedure: Teachers activities Students activities Warm up - Spend a few minutes revising Hi/ Hello. How are you? I’m fine, thank you. - Have Ps play the Slap the board game, using the name of the characters: Miss Hien, Mai, Nam, Quan, Hoa and Phong. 2. New lesson 2.1. Listen and number - Ask Ss to tell about the differences between the pic. + Tell Ss the way to listen + Ask Ss to listen to the tape and choose , number the right pic - Listen and write the number in the picture you hear. + Play the tape three times to listen. + Listen and number the mentioned pic. + Listen and give the correct. - Check the answer, open the tape once and check. Audio script: Miss Hien: Hello, I’m miss Hien. Class: Hello, Miss Hien. Bice to meet you. Nam: How are you, Miss Hien? Miss Hien: I’m fine, thanks. And you? Nam: I’m fine, thank you. Miss Hien: goodbye, class Class: goodbye, Miss Hien Nam: Bye, Mai. Mai: Bye, Nam. 2.2. Read and complete. - Tell Ps that they are going to read ad fill the gaps with the appropriate words. - Give Ps few seconds to read the text in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give Ps time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get Ps to work in pairs. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud each character’s lines respectively. 4. Let’s write - Teacher tells Ps that they are going to read and fill the gaps. - Draw Ps’ attention to the picture and text. - Give Ps time to do their writing. - Tell them to swap and check their answers before calling different pairs to read aloud the sentences. - Write the correct sentences on the board foe Ps to copy down into their notebooks. - Call a few open pairs to act out the dialogue. 3.Reinforcement - Ask Ps practice asking about health. 4. Home-link - Ask Ps practice asking about health with relative at home. - Listen and do the task. - Play the game. - Listen for all ( one) - Listen and number.( three times) - Listen and check and correct Keys : a-4, b-3, c-2, d-1 - Listen. - Look at the book - Read and complete individually. - T-SS to correct - Work individually. - Work in pairs.
